Neol Bio has developed bio processes to enable the production of bioplastics from industrial by-products.
These biopolymers, produced by fermentation of renewable raw materials, are biodegradable and biocompatible. The production is carried out within the microorganism, in which the polymer (medium- and long-chained polyhydroxyalkanoates) accumulates in granulates.
Neol Bio has demonstrated the properties of these biopolymers in different applications:
- As improving additives for certain physical properties of other bioplastics
- As support material for cell cultures
- As material for the production of microcapsules for controlled drug release
